She is an avid reader and her current favorites include Ben Okri’s Songs of Enchantment, Alberuni’s India, and Jean Rhys’ Wide Sargasso Sea. Zainab is a huge fan of Mexican Surrealist artist Remedios Varo, the Scottish folk band Capercaillie and the poetry of Anna Akhmatova. The Swahili word ‘Harambee’ (working in unity) defines her world view.
